In addition to providing special education evaluations and instruction to qualified students, our department is striving to become a non compartmentalized unit. It is one of our goals to provide a consultative model which may include:
- Providing consultative services to the classroom teacher on ways to help students succeed academically and affectively before a referral to special education is made.
- Working closely with the general education staff on reinforcing educational strategies for not only general education students, but also for special education students.
The district welcomes public participation and input regarding the planning and operating of the district's special education program. Our special education staff meets on a weekly basis each Wednesday at 2:30 in the upstairs conference room at the high school.
