SFC (R) Joseph D. Wulczynski
SFC (R) Joseph D. Wulczynski was born and raised in Southern California. He married Heidi Stratmann in 1979 and they have three children; Joey, Greg and Holly.
SFC SKI enlisted in the Army in 1980, he attended OUST at Ft. Leonardwood, MO for combat engineer (12B). His first duty station was with the 15th Engr. Bn. at Ft. Lewis, WA. He was then transferred to Germany where he was stationed with the 78th Engr at Rheinland Kaserne.
In 1987, he got out of the Army and moved to Chewelah Washington. He enlisted in the Washington Army National Guard as a Calvary Scout (19D) and was assigned to the 161st at Geiger Field. He went back to the active Army in 1988 and went to Ft. Knox, KY for training as a Calvary Scout and then to Ft. Benning, GA for Airborne training. He was then assigned to the 82nd’s Airborne Division’s 3/73rd Armor Bn. at Ft. Bragg, NC. In August of 1990, he deployed with his unit to Saudi Arabia and returned home in April of 1991. In 1993 he was transferred to Ft. Knox, KY where he was an instructor for Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC) for two years. He then wrote lesson plans and test material for the Basic and Advance leadership course for Calvary Scout.
In April of 1997, he was assigned to the Spokane Recruiting Station, where one of his schools was Wellpinit High School. In 1998, he took over the Colville RS. He retired from the US Army in July of 2002. He spent two years as a Schwan's driver before becoming an Army Instructor for the Wellpinit High School JROTC program.
His three children, Joseph R, Gregory M, and Holly C are in the US Army.
