Wellpinit Norms of Operations
 

Norms provide guidance of how we treat each other in good times and bad.
Norms need to become operational and embraced by all members of the school community.

Norms are needed to move forward based on the need for:
  • Trust .
  • Buildings positive relationships
  • Need for clear and positive communication
  • Decision making
  • Positive attitudes
  • Clear expectations

Norms for Model Professional Respect:
  • Be on time, be prepared, stay on task
  • Promote and model a positive, professional school climate and environment
  • Increase collegiality by sharing ideas, time, materials and tasks
  • Trust in the professionalism of colleagues
  • Promote, encourage and respond to specific feedback
  • Believe we can make a difference
Norms for Communication:
  • Assume accountability for individual actions based on Norms of Operation
  • Talk and work to resolve issues with peers in private
  • Avoid gossip, negative criticism and respect confidentiality
  • Use email for routine communication only; avoid blanket emails
  • Rely on first hand information; eliminate hearsay and rumors
  • Address issues honestly with integrity and respect
  • Respond to the current situation, not past history or perceptions
  • Participate in reflective dialogue and professional growth; use the research of best practices
  • Work as key communicators to improve staff morale and the lines of communication
  • Communicate in an open, safe and non-confrontational manner
  • Work out problems as they arise with those directly involved
  • Keep words, tone and attitude professional in all conversations with students, families and staff
  • Focus on teaching and learning to increase achievement for all students
Norms for Decision Making:
  • Provide an agenda, come prepared and be actively involved
  • Provide time, when possible, for discussion, dialogue and reflection
  • Be proactive, focus on actions and results
  • Use the Wellpinit Model for decision making
  • Commit to the process or step aside
  • Analyze and make decisions based on what is best for students and staff to implement our vision and mission
  • Make decisions on a yearly basis to be reviewed after April 15 to re-ratify, modify or sunset
  • Give those affected by the opportunity to be involved in the decision making process
