Wellpinit School District Guidelines for a Positive Workplace

Team Wellpinit — Stand Tall, Respect All

These guidelines are based on the need for:
  • Trustworthiness
  • Building professional relationships
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Shared decision-making
  • Positive attitudes
  • Clear expectations

I. PROMOTE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Promote and model a positive attitude, to provide a safe and caring learning and working environment.
  • Believe in all students’ potential.
  • Cultivate belief that we can make a difference.
  • Be a good ambassador; demonstrating loyalty to the students, each other and to the vision and mission of the school.
  • Seek to understand and embrace change.
  • Look for the positive; believe in each other and the students.

II. MODEL PROFESSIONAL RESPECT

Be a supportive professional who treats all others with respect.
  • Be on time, prepared, and on task.
  • Work as a team; share ideas, time, materials and tasks.
  • Be present in mind and body. Lead by example.
  • Ask for and give help.
  • Own mistakes and successes.
  • Strive for consistency.

III. COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY

Communicate effectively by listening, thinking, planning with an open mind.
  • Seek and speak the truth.
  • Respect confidentiality, avoid gossip and negative criticism.
  • Resolve issues as they arise with those directly involved using integrity and respect.
  • Keep words, tone and attitude professional in all conversations with students, families and staff.
  • Share and celebrate successes.
  • Promote clear expectations, goals, and high standards.
  • Communicate in an open, safe and non-confrontational manner.

IV. USE PRO-ACTIVE DECISION MAKING

Use pro-active decision-making based on truth, fairness, and mutual respect.
  • Base decisions on what is best for students and staff in alignment with mission and vision statements.
  • Provide time for discussion, dialogue and reflection in shared decision making process.
  • Focus on action and results; monitor person or persons responsible will evaluate and adjust on a pre-established timeline.
  • Support group decisions, policies and procedures.
  • Practice a reference dialogue and professional growth: Use research-based best practices.
