Julie Turnbough

Where were you born?

Nampa, Idaho

Where did you go to school?

Spokane, WA. Aptos, CA. Buena Park, CA. Whitier, CA. Crescent City, CA. and Reno, NV.

Remembrance of childhood...

Swaying in the tall Eucalyptus trees during a wind storm, climbing the cliffs above the ocean (Monterey Bay), after a storm walking the beach to see what had washed up, learning to swim in the ocean, body surfing small waves and being tumbled by the big ones, fishing off of the, split in half, cement boat and crawling inside, and trying to swim around the pier and the boat (never made it).

Remembrance of being a teenager...

As a teenager I remember that I liked way different music than all my friends. I liked classical and big band, they liked rock & roll, Elvis Presley.

My favorite teacher:

My favorite teacher was in 7th grade, Mr. Marsh. He was the first teacher that I wasn't scared to death of and he would play baseball with us during his lunch, recess and the extra recesses we earned.

Why did I want to be a teacher?

I realized I wanted to be a teacher when I looked back at all the jobs I had held, I ended up being in a trainer position. I really like kids and I wanted to make a difference, especially in the area of reading.

What do I do for fun?

For fun I like to read, learn new things (academic or otherwise), shop for bargains, sew and garden.

My favorite...

Book:

My favorite books would have to be Dr. Seuss because I enjoy reading them as much as kids like to hear them.

Music:

My favorite music is elevator, classical and big band

Food:

My favorite food would have to be Lemon Squares or Lemon Pie

TV Program:

Law and Order

Movie:

The Pelican Brief

An unfulfilled fantasy...

to be able to spend winters in a warm, tropical, ocean climate

Something that people don't know about me...

Most people don't know I have 27 peacocks. I also like to hatch chicken (or whatever) eggs in an incubator.
