October Message from the Superintendent
Superintendent of the Wellpinit School District
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
We would like to thank the entire community for your support of "Late Start Thursdays." This has given us a tremendous opportunity to focus on our mission, vision, and five year strategic plan.
Our work this year continues to focus on promoting academic achievement through the work of educational researcher Robert Marzano Making School Improvement Happen with What Works in Schools. The work identifies five factors for successful schools; Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum, Challenging and Effective Feedback, Parent and Community Involvement, Safe and Orderly Environment and Collegiality and Professionalism.
In our efforts to address the factors we have implemented many changes in the school; the formation the Education Advisory Committee, the implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, revisions to the discipline policy and procedures, increased supervision of students, and continued work on our grants to promote student success in grades 6-12.
Our staff has committed to create a positive workplace with our motto being; "Team Wellpinit; Stand Tall, Respect All." We are working to promote a positive attitude, model professional respect, communicate effectively, and use proactive decision making. Please understand that we are a "works in progress," and constantly remind ourselves of our commitment to our students, community, and each other.
In closing, I want to thank Tribal Council for supporting school initiatives and attending our opening of school and each of them saying important words about education, caring for each other, leadership and for wishing us well. I would like to thank the Language Culture Department and Elders who consistently participate in cultural activities with our students. Thank you to the Education Advisory Committee for working in a positive manner in solving issues, providing valuable input and supporting the school. I would like to send a special thank you to all our staff for committing to make change, their hard work, and for their dedication to the students we serve.
Best regards,
Mr. Tim Ames MA. Ed
