Position: Substitute Teacher
The Wellpinit School District is seeking substitutes for the 2009-2010 school term.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER – Requires a current teaching certificate.

SUBSTITUTE PARA-EDUCATOR/TEACHER ASSOCIATE:
Must have earned an AA degree or two years of College or passed the PRAXIS Para-pro assessment. Work under supervision/direction of classroom teacher; help students with math, independent class work, supplementary work for students, supervises independent study social skills development, and other non-academic areas as directed by the teacher. Assist the teacher in preparing the classroom, equipment and materials for use in reading, math; and work with the teacher to develop classroom schedules.

SUBSTITUTE CUSTODIANS -The goal is to provide students with a safe attractive, comfortable, clean, and an efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

Applicant for all positions must pass background check and drug-testing.

NOTICE OF OPENING
POSITION: Indian Education Demonstration Grant (IEDG) Project Director
DESCRIPTION: Wellpinit School District is seeking a Project Director for the Indian Education Demonstration Grant.
This project is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
This Independent Contractor will be hired from now until June 30, 2010-June 30, 2011, (when the grant closes).
The work of the Project Director will be overseen by the project’s Joint Management Team. However, the Project Director will be directly supervised on a day-to-day basis by the Wellpinit Superintendent of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS: The person selected for this position will have experience:
• working with schools, higher education institutions, and communities (preferably tribal communities).
• in the management of education or education-related projects.
• with diverse communities, and a proven commitment to collaboration.

The individual selected for this position will:
• possess strong communication and leadership skills.
• have an understanding of education improvement approaches.
• coordinate the implementation of all project components as described in the IED Grant.
• have completed at least Masters in Education.

WAGES/SALARY: To be determined through Contract Service Agreement:
Range 30,000-$40,000

CLASSIFIED POSITION: Custodian : Wellpinit School / Wellpinit

DESCRIPTION:
1. Sweep and mop floors as needed; move furniture and equipment; dust areas as needed; wash furniture, walls, and fixtures; wash windows; apply floor products; operate cleaning equipment; replace lights; wash trash cans.
2. Sanitize body contact areas daily: shower (floors and walls), dressing room areas, wrestling mats, training room areas, sinks, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains.
3. Sweep and wash sidewalks.
4. Willingly follow directions of principal/head custodian/supervisor without supervision while performing your duties up to standard and participate in planning and organizing work schedules.
5. Responsible for securing building.
6. Climb ladders; up to roof, servicing lights in gym areas.
7. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or head custodian.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Proven ability to read and comprehend operational instructions.
4. Satisfactory overall work record, including attendance and demonstrated dependability, stability, and ability to establish and maintain effective relations with other employees, students, and public.
5. Present an image appropriate for modeling for students.
6. Physical ability to lift, stoop, bend, climb ladders, and perform various types of labor in eight-hour shift.
7. An operational telephone is required at or readily nearby individual's residence for the purpose of immediate contact.
8. Ability to willingly follow directions of head custodian/principal up to standards without supervision.
9. Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of co-workers and staff in a confidential manner.
10. Basic computer skills.
11. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.


SALARY: WSD Salary Schedule $12.78 to $18.79

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work Schedule—Days and hours are subject to change depending on program and district needs.
2. Benefits—Fringe benefits are provided for employees who work at least half-time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position.
3. Association Membership—Pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between Wellpinit School District and the Union, a newly-elected employee must either become a member of the association, pay an equivalent representation fee, or based on bona fide religious objections, pay an equivalent amount to a nonreligious charity mutually agreed upon by the employee and the association.
4. A fingerprint background check is required for all prospective employees prior to start date.
5. A probationary period of 90 days.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING: Random drug testing throughout the school year is required.

NOTICE OF OPENING
Position: Social Worker
Salary: N/A
Job Requirement

Wellpinit School District is seeking a school social worker, this is an independent contractor position that will provide up to 25 hours per week of service, during the school year. This position is funded by the Department of Education Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Grant.

The qualified applicant will possess a degree in social work from a program accredited by the council on social work education and an ESA in school social work. This position will require evening hours and will provide outreach services.

Dependable transportation and a valid WA drivers license in required.

Candidate must sucessfully pass a criminal background check.

Job Info:
The qualified applicant will provide evening parent education classes utilzing the second step and life skills curriculum.
This position will focus on reducing truancy, using a variety of social casework interventions, i.e., family education and intervention, participation on the district truancy board, etc.
